You can forgret the race for the White House, who will eventually be the first democratically elected leader in Libya, even who will get the most votes in "Strictly" this year, yep we're voting in Frisby.
And being Frisby it ain't straightforward as you, dear reader, will no doubt be delighted to hear.
Unfortunately our local ward councillor, Nigel Angrave, died suddenly a short while ago which meant that a Borough Council seat has become vacant. Shahir, from Frisby, is standing for the Labour party, whilst the conservatives have parachuted someone in from Twyford to stand for them, apparently to stop him causing an internal dispute. As we all know Twyford is bandit country.
It's like South London.
Taxi drivers don't go there.
This has raised the dander of one Edward Hutchison, good burgher of this parish and jolly fine chap; and so Eddie is standing as an independant.
This is a good thing because it opens up a can of worms.
It may just be that Eddie could split the conservative vote and let Shahir in. This would be unheard of. An Asian socialist being voted in here would be like Kruschev running against Kennedy for the White House and winning!
Anyway, to last night's cracking 50th party at Brooksby. The topics are not unrelated.
Eddie was there and was steaming. He made some shapes on the dance floor and was doing some serious (!) canvassing. When he couldn't find a baby to kiss he kissed me.
Several times.
Sloppily.
Now I don't mind this too much, but perhaps next time I can get Eddie to kiss me by proxy through Pirni, his fabulous wife.
The election will be re-visited!
It was a great party. Food and ale flowed in bounteous amounts. Fiona and Simon had people staying over. Most of them left reasonable well, but when they surfaced on Sunday there was still one person left. Totally legless lying behind the sofa. He couldn't get up and so Simon carried him downstairs. He lifted him into the car and drove him home. He lifted him out of the car and carried him to the door. He rang the door bell and a woman answered. Stil carrying the bloke Simon said "I've brought him home." She replied,
"Where's his wheelchair?
BOOM BOOM! To quote that great comic genius Basil Brush.

On Tuesday evening there was a very important meeting about access to the walks around the lakes. The two village candidates for the forthcoming election were present for a very important village meeting. Where was the out-of-village conservative candidate? Could this be his War of Catherine's Ear moment?
Back to work matters then.
Quite a lot to tell really. I found out yesterday that I am one of the two preferred Toastmasters for the Old Priory Barn.
I was there for Fay and Michael's wedding a month or two back. It really is a lovely spot.
Also workwise, off to one of my favourite regular jobs of the year this weekend, the Ludlow Medieval Christmas Fayre. It is fantastic. A stunning venue, some fabulous acts and performers. Well worth a visit.
Then back for a very busy week. Aztecs at The Grove, The lighthouse Club Christmas lunch - always a great event, as I mentioned a room full of 400 builders intent on drinking the hotel dry!
Thousands of pounds are raised each year, just on selling big bottle of whisky!
The following day I am Toastmaster at one of my favourite venues, Stapleford Park for the wedding of Laura and Christopher. This will be quite a big one because it is being filmed for Stapleford's new promotional video. They are intending to develop their wedding business and have taken on the services of Wedding Days TV to make a new promotional film. You can catch a clip of the work in progress at the previous link. It does all look pretty spectacular! I will keep you up to date!
Well gentle reader, the festive season is fast approaching. Keep your eyes open for this year's decorated house video - well traditions do have to be maintained, otherwise they'd just be one offs (I think there's something profound in there - somewhere.
